…With the right battery set up and energy tariff, we can set the battery system to charge overnight on a much lower ‘off-peak’ rate. Usually around 8-15 pence per kWh.
In the day you can run the house on this stored energy, meaning any FREE Solar PV energy generation can either go towards the house usage, or help top the battery back up as it’s being used, rather than buying in the energy from the grid as it’s needed, for a much higher ‘on-peak’ rate of around 30 pence per kWh.
Load Shifting alone, through winter, can save 50% on winter electricity bills. Plus, any Solar PV generation will help to save you even more!
On top of that…
…The surplus energy produced through Summer and then exported via the Government SEG Scheme, earns you an income. Often this SEG income can fully cover, or at least contribute substantially towards the new lower energy cost via Load Shifting, through winter. Making the homes energy costs ‘bill neutral’ or as close to it at possible. This also means the systems Return on Investment (RoI) expectancy is reduced.
